Los Angeles, CA – Arturo Carmona issued the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s alleged plan to mobilize the National Guard for immigration enforcement:

“Today, the Associated Press reported that it has obtained a draft memo from the Trump Administration outlining a plan to mobilize 100,000 National Guard troops to begin a roundup of undocumented immigrants.

“The 10-page memo details the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement in 11 states: Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

“While the Trump Administration has described the memo as “100% not true,” we have seen this administration struggle time and time again to present the American people with facts.

“The Trump Administration cannot be trusted. Period.

“This is a moment of reckoning for all Americans. There are very serious questions we must ask ourselves about the direction in which our country is headed.

“I call on all Americans to take this memo seriously and resist any policy that would indiscriminately target undocumented immigrants and unnecessarily divide families.

“Additionally, I ask all states, especially those named in this memo, to refuse the deployment of their respective National Guard troops, and instead demand that the Trump Administration cease this gross escalation of domestic militarization.

“We will continue to resist until Trump’s reign of terror has ended.”
