“I believe in the principles of a single-payer health care system advanced by National Nurses United. I will fight to make them a reality in Congress.”
– Arturo Carmona
Guaranteeing health care as a right of citizenship
It’s time for the U.S. to join every major industrialized country on Earth and provide universal health care to all by enacting a Medicare for all, single-payer health care system.
Health care remains unaffordable for millions of people
It’s a moral crisis when so many are dying because they cannot get the care they need. We must establish health care as a right for all people, not a privilege. There is no question we must strongly defend key advances made by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but the fact remains that it was not enough. We need to move to a universal, single-payer health care system that covers all of our people.
Diversity in Health care
We must also work to ensure that our nation’s health care workforce reflects the amazing diversity of our society. Cultural competency and awareness by our physicians, nurses and other health care workers can help us end the ongoing disparity in care for historically underrepresented and underserved communities.
Rights of our health care workers
Safe, secure and properly staffed work environments are crucial to ensuring the well-being of the staff and proper care for all patients. We must work to ensure all health care workers have safe workplaces and working rights.
